The Guard

Drama

Sara, a 37-year-old policewoman, is assigned to an Italian CPR, a detention centre for repatriation where foreigners accused of being illegal immigrants are held until they are identified and deported: the worst kind of place, as far as she is concerned. But her racism collides with the solidarity of Nadira, a Syrian detainee who, during a riot, saves her life at the cost of her own. The debt of honour sends Sara on a risky journey to Berlin to bring Amina, Nadira’s daughter, back to her closest relatives – but nothing goes the way she hopes…
