The Eva Code

Thriller, Science Fiction

Tormented and brilliant geneticist Eva Rak finds herself involved in research that brings to light a clandestine experiment conducted in 1939 to improve the fighting skills of Italian soldiers. Genetic manipulation that provoked a peculiar anomaly in the inhabitants of the remote mountain village Eva is studying: though apparently perfectly healthy and strong, many of them die suddenly at 39. As she reconstructs the fragments of the village’s past, Eva discovers that everything she knows about herself is a sophisticated falsehood and that, against all apparent logic, her genome is the same one uniting that chain of inexplicable deaths. She thus finds herself both experimenter and guinea pig, under increasing pressure as her 39th birthday looms. To survive, she must find the key to her true nature and identify what lies within her: hope for the future or potential weapon of mass destruction?

“The most insidious enemy is the one hiding in your DNA.”
